Alt Horn- It was invented as the alto voice in the saxhorn family in the mid-1800s by Adolphe Sax, a Belgian who is best remembered for the saxophone. It has been made in various forms: most common is a sort of mini-tuba shape, with the bell pointing upward, which may help the voice blend before reaching the audience .

Sackbut- refers to a trombone from the Renaissance and Baroque Eras.
Shawm- The direct ancestor of the oboe which was probably introduced into Europe during the Crusades when the Saracen armies invaded and used this instrument in war as well as for dancing. The bore is conical and wide, as is the double reed. The body is constructed from a single piece of wood with finger holes.
